A major public sculpture was exhibited at Te Papa at the 4 Plinths site between Te Papa and Circus Theatre with the help of Hampidjan. The art installation, ‘Other Worlds’ was exhibited from February 2017 to January 2018 near Wellington’s waterfront, and worked to combine science with imagination.
Created by Ruth Watson and commissioned by the Wellington Sculpture Trust, the art sculpture featured four globes of reinterpretations of Earth or Mars based on early maps of the planets.
Ruth Watson is a New Zealand artist and a lecturer at the Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland. Her aim for the art installation was to encourage people to think about the image of the world we all know in a different way.
We developed specially designed netting that enabled each globe to be removed easily once it was in place. This netting had to be very gentle on the artworks, so no metal hardware could be used. When the exhibition ended in 2018, the netting was re-used for easy and effective removal.
We offer a wide range of netting and products and custom installation services. Whether you’re a commercial fisherman or need a trailer cover, sports nets or playground scramble nets, we will have the right product and expertise for your project.
Our dedicated team of net makers and riggers have over 20 years of experience, meaning we can offer netting solutions for any project big or small. We offer design solutions using a combination of traditional nylon/polyester knotless netting and knotted netting materials.
We also provide a large selection of rope, netting, twine and hardware fixings, which enables us to manufacture anything from fall prevention systems, containment nets, or impact nets, film props and more!
If you need help with your project our experienced staff can assist and advise you on the best possible solution.
