The Type 20 VF “Flipper” pelagic trawl door is an all-round high aspect pelagic trawldoor. They are used for all kinds of pelagic fishing setups. They can also be used for bottom fishing with the doors “flying off the bottom”.
The type 20 VF “Flipper” pelagic trawldoors are one of the most efficient pelagic trawl doors in the world. They offer a lot of adjustment possibilities for many different fishing setups and provide an extremely high stability, when fishing deep or fishing very close to the surface with a lot of turns.
This “Flipper door” has four flaps in the backend of the door, two on the upper part and two on the lower part that can be opened manually. By this the effective surface area can be reduced up to 12,4% and the spreading power can be reduced up to 17%. At the same time the door resistance can be reduced up to 25%. You basically have two door sizes in one.
Furthermore these flaps can also be used to adjust the pitch and roll.
